October: Unveil Yourself

Oh my October! This month is full of issues. Domestic violence, LGBT history (and coming out), bully prevention, and breast cancer. These are all issues that effect most of us in some way. In this country right now, these are just a few of the things we can't avoid discussing.          Domestic Violence affects many households in this country. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been abused in some way.                LGBT History dates back to 9660 BC. My LGBT history dates back to 2001 when I joined PINC (Peers In a Nurturing Community), a gay-straight alliance in college.   Bully Prevention falls on the shoulders of adults. Children are no longer as innocent as when I was growing up (and we weren't even close to angels). Help protect our future.             Breast Cancer Awareness, some may say, gets plenty of coverage. However, I believe having this annual reminder saves lives.[Tweet "#unveilyourself this October."]This month I'm asking readers to submit their stories. Whether you're a survivor, advocate, or are (insert issue here) adjacent, your words could help to inspire or empower another reader. Your words may be the reason someone will choose to stand up, fight, or fight back. Either way, your story will be heard.
